Conti continued strong growth in 2011

Hannover, Germany - Continental's rubber group reported sales up by 20 percent in the 12 months to December 2011. The rubber group reported sales of euro 12,176 million in the period. Margins eased slightly, but were still healthy. Divisional profit (EBITDA) was recorded at euro 2014 million (2010: 1851 million).
Capital expenditure increased to euro 748 million (2010: 556 million), while R&D costs also increased to euro 241 million (2010: 223 million).
Rubber group sales were split between the Passenger car unit; the CV tyre unit and Conti tech at euro 6957 million (2010: 5821 million); 1854 million (2010: 1427 million) and 3583 million (2010: 3095 million) respectively.
Rubber group EBIT earnings were split as euro 1080 million (2010: 993 million); 115 million (2010: 50.1 million) and 417 million (2010: 370 million) respectively.
Rubber group capEx was split as euro 527 million (2010: 404 million); 110 million (2010: 51.2 million) and 111 million (2010: 100 million) respectively.
