Vietnam's Casumina breaks ground at tyre plant

Binh Duong Province, Vietnam - Vietnam's JSC Southern Rubber Industry (Casumina) ihas broken ground at a large factory in Binh Duong Province to make all-steel radial car and light truck tyres.
The company said the plant will have capacity for 1 million units/year by 2017 and represents an investment of VND 3380 billion (around euro 123 million). In the first phase, scheduled for completion in 2013, 350,000 units/year will be on stream. The second phase will take capacity to 600,000 units by 2015 with the third phase taking production to 1 million units by 2017.
According to Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Chairman and CEO Casumina, when completed, the plant will generate additional annual revenues of nearly 5,000 billion VND and create new jobs for 1,200 workers.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony Chairman Le Thanh Cung said the plant will contribute to the economic development of the province, creating jobs for local people.
