Exxium to become, "new standard for tyre building machines"
ERJ staff report (DS)
Epe, Netherlands - VMI Group will in February launch its Exxium tyre building machine (TBM). VMI said, “We expect the EXXIUM to gradually become the new standard high quality high productivity car TBM, to be sold in high series.â€
A typical cycle time on the EXXIUM, with a regular tyre, is 44 seconds.
VMI will introduce the technology to customers at the Tire Technology event in Cologne from 14 - 16 February
The EXXIUM is based on VMI MAXX Technology and combines high production efficiency and tyre quality with the flexibility to handle a wide range of tyre designs. The machine can handle 12†to 24†rimm diameter tyres and has the ability to produce hands-off as well as with an operator.
More complex tyre designs with additional full rubber components, steel- and/or fabric chafer strips call for operator involvement, which is often also a crucial aspect in the overall quality assurance system.
VMI said its MAXX approach it to completely re-think the function and implementation of the equipment and question all previous assumptions and designs. The result is a more efficient, faster and more productive machine.
