Michelin names new director of competitions

Paris -- Pascal Couasnon has been named to take over as Director of the Michelin Group's Competitions Department when Nick Shorrock retires on April 2, 2012.
Couasnon joined the Michelin Group in 1987 after graduating from the Ecole Supérieure de Physique Chimie Industrielle in Paris, France, and after obtaining a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at the University of Arizona in the United States. He began his career as a test engineer, working for Michelin as a test driver at the firm's Research Centre in Ladoux, near Clermont-Ferrand, France, before becoming Manager of the On-Vehicle Test Department in Greenville, USA. Following his return to France as European Product Marketing Director, Couasnon took over the management of Michelin's Sales Department in the Netherlands. He was then appointed Passenger Car Tyre Director for the firm's Asia-Pacific zone, based in Singapore, ahead of a further spell in the USA as Marketing Director of the Small Tyre Business Unit.
In 2010, Couasnon joined the Group's Communications and Brands Department as Director of Technical and Scientific Communication. He is 50, is married with three children. In addition to his interest in motorsport, he is an active golf and soccer player and enjoys hiking.
