OE tyre market shows strong growth in year-to-date

Paris - The original equipment tyre market for passenger car and light trucks has grown in Europe (+6.9 percent), North America (+7.9 percent) and Brazil (+3.8 percent) in the year to date, according to Michelin's 15 Dec market data report.
Despite this, both Europe and Brazil saw a decrease in the OE market in November, of -2.9 percent and -5.6 percent respectively. The North American market however, increased by 17.9 percent.
In the replacement passenger car/light truck market for the year to date, Europe was up by 7 percent, and Brazil by 3.3 percent. The North American market was down by 0.6 percent.
In November, the replacement market was down by 2.1 percent in Europe, but up up by 0.9 percent in North America and 3.8 percent in Brazil.
For the heavy truck tyre market, all regions showed growth in the year to date, particularly in the OE market (Europe +38.4 percent, North America +58.1 percent, Brazil +19.5 percent). The replacement market was up 7.1 percent in Europe, 7.3 percent in North America and 6.3 percent in Brazil.
In November, there was growth in the OE truck tyre market across the regions (Europe +6.1 percent, North America +48.4 percent, Brazil +16.6 percent). However, the replacement market saw decreases across all regions (Europe -10.1 percent, North America -3.8 percent, Brazil -8.0 percent).
