Octadecylamine classified as skin irritant
ERJ staff report (DS)
Helsinki -- The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) has adopted 13 opinions on proposals for harmonised classification and labelling across Europe. Among them, the RAC agreed with the proposal from Germany to classify octadecylamine as a skin irritant, as severely damaging to the eye, as toxic after repeated exposure, as causing aspiration hazard and as hazardous to the aquatic environment. The classification and labelling of this substance had so far not been harmonised at EU level.
Octadecylamine is mainly used as an intermediate, as a fuel additive and as a rubber additive.
