Synthomer to expand NBR latex plant in Malaysia - report

Kuala Lumpur -- Malaysian news agency Bernama reports that Synthomer is to invest RM110 million (euro 26 million) to expand its Pasir Gudang nitrile latex plant. The company reportedly said the expansion will make the plant the world's biggest nitrile latex production unit, and confirmed that initial capacity was 100kt latex weight (including water) per year and the new expansin will increase capacity by 60 percent in two phases.
Bernama said construction work has started. The first phase of expansion is shceduled to be on stream by Q3 2012, and the second phase soon after.
Synthomer operates a similar unit in Kluang. Bernama said the combined capacity of the Pasir Gudang and Kluang plants will be 300,000WT a year in 2013.
