Eastland Compounding marks 10 years since MBO
ERJ staff report (DS)
Eastland, Manchester -- On 1 December 2001, a management buyout took the
old Vitacom compounding business into private hands. Ten years on and
the re-vitalised company, Eastland Compounding now claims to offer the
shortest delivery times in the UK and across much of Europe.
Managing director Keith O'Brien told ERJ that the unit operates on a
very short cycle time, usually delivering within a couple of days of
receiving the order.
Eastland has upgraded the three mixing lines it acquired back in 2001
and now offers inline straining, temperature controlled mixing, and
automated packer/stackers for excellent presentation.
Eastland can calender up to 1200mm and can then split into narrow rolls.
The company operates a Farrel K5 (120 litre) Intermix; a Carter 6 (160
litre) tangential and a Farrel F160 tangential mixing lines.
Eastland develops new compounds for customers and has been active in
recent months re-formulating to overcome price changes and material
shortages.
O'Brien said in the last 10 years since the MBO, the company has
generated a total of £200 million (euro 233 million) in sales.
