India's rubber output in August was up year-on-year

Kottayam, india -- Production of Natural Rubber
(NR) in the country during
August 2011 was 71,200 tonnes
compared to the production of
72,500 tonnes during August 2010. In the five months
to August 2011 NR output was 311,200 tonnes
compared to 297,750 tonnes during
the corresponding period of the
previous year, recording a growth of
4.5 percent.
Synthetic Rubber (SR) production
during August 2011 increased to
9,391 tonnes from 8,929 tonnes
during July'11. In the five months to August 2011, production
increased to 46,329 tonnes compared
with 43,911 tonnes a year earlier.
The rate of growth in
consumption in the auto tyre
manufacturing sector during the first
five months of the current financial
year was 7.8 percent as against 4.1 percent
attained during the corresponding
period of the previous year, where as
the non-tyre sector registered a
negative growth of 4.9 percent compared to
a positive growth of 0.9 percent during the
same period last year.
