Gori stands down at ETRMA; replaced by Michelin's Lepercq

Brussels -- Europe's Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers' Association (ETRMA) has elected Michelin's Patrick Lepercq (pictured) as the new President for a three-year mandate from 2012 to 2014. Continental's Christian Koetz was elected as Vice-President for the same period. The current President, Francesco Gori will stand down from 31 December this year.
Lepercq is Michelin's corporate Vice President Public Affairs and has been ETRMA's vice-President since 2009.
Koetz is Head of Passenger Car Tire Replacement Business EMEA at Conti, but prior to that was was chief developer for passenger car tyres.
On his election Lepercq said he is committed to asserting the interests of the European tyre and rubber sector, “The industry needs fair competition and open markets. Global competition is increasing, while at the same time the European Union is strengthening its regulatory framework with, amongst others, higher environmental and safety rules. In such environment, it is of paramount importance that our trading partners abide by the international regulatory system That would effectively facilitate free trade and be in everyone's interest including both business and consumersâ€.
