Nusil launches 100% fluorosilicone LSR
ERJ staff report (DS)
Carpinteria, California - NuSil Technology LLC has introduced a 100M% fluorosilicone liquid silicone rubber designed for moulding high-quality parts.
The new grade, called S-3511 is a two-part, translucent fluorosilicone elastomer. Nusil said it cures rapidly with heat and provides minimal shrinkage. The company continued, “With a long work time, FS-3511 provides excellent processability for liquid injection moulding.
This elastomer is specially formulated for high-quality moulded components that are exposed to aviation fuels such as JP-8, chemicals and solvents. Typical applications include O-rings; gaskets; seals; and precision-moulded parts for the automotive, aerospace, sensor and oil industries. In addition, FS-3511 is ideal for applications in which vibration dampening and shock absorbency is required.
FS-3511 has excellent mechanical properties with a typical tensile strength of 850 psi (5.9MPa), elongation of 240%, and tear strength of 40 ppi (7.1 kN/m). It also provides excellent unprimed adhesion to various components used in the automotive and aerospace industries. FS-3511 can be customised to match Federal Color Standards, as well as Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors.
