ERJ staff report (DS)
Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire -- GMG Global Limited (GMG) said it has temporarily ceased operations at its plantation and processing facilities at Anguededou, Cote D'Ivoire. The unit was operating until 2 April, but the decision was taken on 3 April to cease operations, in the light of a worsening security and political situation in the country.
As reported in the news, a country wide curfew had been imposed and all sea, land and air transportation were closed over the weekend of 2nd April 2011. TRCI has therefore been unable to export its products, effective from the weekend, due to closure of the port in Abidjan.
The plantation is operated by GMG subsidiary, Tropical Rubber Cote D'Ivoire (TRCI). GMG said it would monitor the situation and issue further statements as the situation develops.
