UK Environment Agency seeks information on tyre dump

Boston, UK -- The UK Environment Agency is seekign information on 150 illegally dumped tyres in Licolnshire. Operations Delivery staff from Boston and Grantham were called out on Monday evening following a report by a member of the public of 150 used car tyres in the Swaton Eau, east of Swaton village.
Adam Robinson, Operations Delivery Team Leader at Boston, said: “The tyres were blocking the river channel. As a result, water was beginning to back up and could have threatened to flood Swaton village as well as the A52, the main road between Grantham and Boston. Luckily, this blockage was reported before it caused any real problems and our quick emergency response prevented this incident escalating.â€
The tyres were removed from the river within two hours and taken to approved recycling centre Envirotyre UK Ltd in Boston.
