Regal Rubber launches UK roll covering service
ERJ staff report (TB)
Lochgelly, Scotland -- Regal Rubber, based in Lochgelly, Scotland, is forming a joint venture company with Kalker Paper of France, a subsidiary of the Hannecard group. The new trading company will be called Regal-Kalker Paper (RKP) and will deal exclusively with the UK paper industry, supplying rubber, polyurethane and composite roller coverings.
RKP will be headed up by Graeme Noble, previously managing director of Stowe Woodward and a well known figure in the paper industry.
"The paper industry in the UK has undergone some significant restructuring in recent years, however customer feedback suggests that there is still a need for a paper-specific, UK-based roll covering and service company, particularly now since two of the biggest, Stowe Woodward and Moseley Rubber, closed their UK manufacturing plants in recent years,†said Noble.
Where possible, rolls will be covered in the Regal Rubber plant, however, heavier rolls, or those requiring polyurethane or composite covers will be manufactured in the Kalker plant in La Fleche, France.
"Whilst we are excited about this new venture and introducing Kalker Paper's excellent roll cover technology into the UK, we remain committed to providing our industrial roll customers with the level of service they have been used to over the years,†Noble added.
