NHTSA proposes new truck tyre rules

Washington DC -- The US-based NHTSA proposes to upgrade FMVSS119 to include more stringent tests for speed and weight. The new rules will apply to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight around 10 000 lb (4536kg). The proposal also also requires tyre makers to add a speed rating to the tyre sidewall.
Comments should be received by 29 November.
