Volvo recalls US cars over TPMS issues
ERJ staff report (DS)
Washington, DC -- Volvo Cars in the US has recalled up to 3635 cars in the US due to a potential issue with tyre pressure labelling and monitoring. The cars affected are all S80 models from model year 2007 - 2010, sold in the United States. The recall notice affects all vehicles in the class.
Volvo has voluntarily issued a non-compliance notice saying "The tyre and loading information label on the vehicle and in the owner's manual contain incorrect data on the maximum permissible inflationpressure. Also, the TPMS system has trigger levels set according to this incorrect data.
The maximum pressure was incorrectly stated slightly too low, so 35 psi instead of 36 on some vehicles and 36 psi instead of 38 on others.
Volvo said the TPMS may receive a low pressure warning alert later than would have been the case had the settings been correct.
