Freudenberg reports loss, but says restructuring is almost complete

Weinheim, Germany -- Freudenberg Group said sales in 2009 were severely disrupted, particularly in the first two quarters of the financial year. Business stabilised at a low level in the third and fourth quarters. Sales fell year-on-year by 849.3 million euros or 16.8 percent to 4,200.8 million euros (2008: 5,050.1 million euros).

Freudenberg therefore reported a loss from operations totaling 161.6 million euros in the 2009 financial year. On December 31, 2009 the Freudenberg Group employed 32,142 associates, 596 fewer than the previous year.
