Investors buy, to reopen Chardon mixing plant
ERJ staff report (R&PN)
CHARDON, Ohio (April 14, 2010)-A group of private investors have purchased the former Chardon Rubber Co. plant and compounding operation in Chardon and launched a new custom mixing business at the facility.
Called Chardon Custom Polymers L.L.C., the firm will be headed by President Marian Keener DeVoe, the former president of Chardon Rubber, which sold its rubber and plastics product manufacturing segments last year after it filed for bankruptcy court protection in May.
The factory and mixing business were the only parts of the firm not sold at that time.
CCP will feature a state-of-the-art laboratory and two internal mixers capable of producing 20 million pounds of rubber compound per year. The company initially will employ about 20 experienced staff members with additions made as the business grows.
