Yokohama claims zero emissions at Chinese tyre plant
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., said its Hangzhou Yokohama Tire Co., Ltd., has achieved "complete zero emissions"
According to Yokohama, this means less than 1 percent of waste going to direct landfill, though does not refer to output from chimney stacks or to material which indirectly finds its way to landfill, and allows still a minimal level of waste ging directly to landfill.
Yokohama said "complete zero emissions," achieved by the Chinese plant is a higher standard than "zero emissions." It accredited itself to this standard following on-site investigations of all contractors commissioned to dispose of waste from the plant.
