Korea to introduce voluntary tyre labelling scheme
ERJ staff report (DS)
Seoul, Korea -- The Korean government is reportedly introducing a voluntary labelling scheme for tyres. Yonhap News agency quoted a statement from Korea's Ministry of Knowledge Economy saying the scheme will come into force in 2011, but by 2012 the scheme will be mandatory.
ERJ sought clarification from the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and from the Korea Tire Manufacturers Association but had not received a response by the time we went to press.
Reports said the label would inform consumers about traction, durability and fuel efficiency, but did not give any technical details.
