UK drivers pay out for tyre damage

London -- UK motorists spent an estimated £300 million on new tyre damage in the last year, according to tyre retailer, Kwik-Fit. The comapny said 8.5 million motorists (28 percent of the population) suffered a puncture or flat tyre in the last twelve months. In London almost 40 percent of motorists had a flat in the last year.Conventional wisdom in the industry says each tyre travels around 100 000 km before it is likely to experience a puncture.
Of the total 8.5 million incidents, 40 percent were repaired, while 60 percent resulted in the sale of a tyre.
