Chinese company to set up Gutta-Percha plantation
ERJ staff report (DS)
Fuzhou City, China -- Hiru Corp. and its subsidiary Jiangxi RongYu Pharmaceutical Group, Inc have signed an agreement with China's National Forestry Academy to jointly develop a Gutta Percha tree plantation. The agreement also extends to the purchase of company's existing Eucommia tree products.
The agreement binds RongYu Pharmaceutical and the National Forestry Academy to jointly develop Gutta Percha tree plantation for industrial use. The National Forestry Academy developed patented technology for production of Gutta Percha.
Gutta Percha is a variant of polyisoprene -- the trans form, rather than the cis form found in natural rubber. It was historically used primarily as an electrical insulator, but is now used mainly in dentistry to fill the root space following endodontic therapy.
