Trelleborg remains in profit on 21%sales decline

Stockholm - Trelleborg AB has published its year-end report for 2009, saying sales fell by 21 percent across the group, but operating profit nearly doubled.
The company said the year had been exceptional, but action taken in the last few months of 2008 and into 2009 had taken effect during the crisis and left the company in a stronger position.
Key figures for January - December 2009, given in million Swedish Kroner (2008 numbers in parentheses)

Operating profit 773 (374)
Profit for the period 419 (-258)
Operating profit excl. items affecting comparability 1,163 (1,798)
“The development of the demand going forward remains uncertain. We have now however a more efficient structure with increased flexibility to accommodate future market changes. The Group's strategy remains. The priorities include continuing to improve the company's structure and geographic balance, increasing synergies in the Group and refining the product portfolioâ€, says President and CEO Peter Nilsson.
