Eagle debuts OTR tyre cutter
Tire Business staff report
South Sioux City, Nebraska -- Eagle International LLC, a manufacturer of tyre recycling equipment, is offering an Eagle-brand tyre cutter that can slice 63-inch OTR tyres.
The Eagle Punch Cutter is designed to split OTR tyres into halves or “bagel†cuts by cutting through the center of the tread. The machine can cut a tire with a rim size of 39 inches and a tread width of 37 inches, up to and including a 13-foot diameter OTR tyre.
The South Sioux City-based company said the machine cuts 5-inch sections at a time as it moves around the tire to make a bagel-shape cut in approximately 20 minutes.
Eagle International said it recommends that all giant-sized OTR tyres be split first by the Punch Cutter, then sliced further into smaller pieces by the Eagle Titan II machine.
The Punch Cutter can be programmed either to operate automatically or manually. The machine is patent-pending but is available to customers, the company said.
