Lion Copolymer restarts 2 plants
Baton Rouge, Louisiana -- Lion Copolymer LLC's EPDM and SBR plants are back in action, following their closing before Hurricane Gustav struck.
Full production was expected to resume at the Geismar, Louisiana, Royalene EPDM factory Sept. 9 and on Sept. 10 at the Baton Rouge SBR plant, a spokesman said. Critical utilities, including electricity, were restored to both facilities over the past weekend.
The plants were shut down as a precautionary measure before the hurricane arrived and sustained some, although not significant, damage. All necessary repairs have been made, and communications and business systems now are operational, the spokesman said.
Lion Copolymer's customer service, warehousing and shipping resumed on a limited basis Sept. 2, and now are back to normal.
