Rubber World Industries signs $4M contract with Lanxess
ERJ staff report (RD)
Ajman, United Arab Emirates - Rubber World Industries llc (RWI) has signed a contract with Lanxess AG for the supply of nitrile rubber (NBR) and other speciality chemicals worth $4m (Euro 2.7 million), the company announced in a recent statement.
RWI, a specialist in close cell insulation, makes closed cell elastomeric rubber insulation under the Gulf-O-Flex  brand. The products are used in applications for air conditioning installations, refrigeration works, heating applications and pipe insulation. With plants in the Ajman Industrial Area in the UAE, RWI is the only producer of rubber insulation in the Middle East region.
The order, signed by Andreas Roos, manager of Lanxess technical services, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), was placed to “ensure that only top quality NBR will be used for the manufacturer's industry-leading Gulf-O-Flex products,†the company said.
Roos said that with a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, high performance NBR can withstand most of the severe applications and so can be used in application areas requiring fuel, oil and chemical resistance. RWI said the contract is also in line with its expansion plan for 2008, which aims to increase capacity to over 3600 containers per year by 2013.
“We have identified the quality of Lanxess' high performance speciality chemicals to be at par with the world standards we have set for our own products, thereby prompting us to invest heavily in their offerings,†commented Abu Baker Shaikhani, managing director of RWI and chairman of the Memon Group.
