Bridgestone Bandag tread design in full production
MUSCATINE, Iowa (Aug. 13, 2008) - Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions' (BBTS) Continuum C1073 tread design for off-the-road (OTR) tires is now in full production, the company said.
According to Mike Poirier, North American OTR sales manager for BBTS, the initial retreaded tires built with Continuum C1073 tread-designed for use in dump truck and hauling applications-have reached the end of their life cycle after facing extreme conditions in a coal mine application.
“The Continuum retreads ran 3,000 hours of service as compared to 3,500 from a new tire, with the result that this new retread tire design is providing 82 percent of the hours a new tire provides, but at just 60 percent of the price,†he said. “This is good news for fleets who are interested in lowering their cost-per-hour of operation.â€
The C1073 design, which was first available in February, is non-directional and optimized for use on radial tire casings. It is available for the following tire sizes: 2100R25, 2100R35, 23.5R35, 2400R35, 2400R49, 26.5R25, 29.5R25 and 2700R49, BBTS said.
