Yokohama begin fourth expansion of Hiroshima OTR plant

Hiroshima, Japan - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., has announced a fourth-phase expansion of its Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture Plant to manufacture off road (OR) tyres for mining and construction vehicles.
An investment of 6000 million yen (Euro 37 431 000 million) Yokohama will increase monthly production capacity at the plant by 600,tons, to a total of 2500-tons in financial year ending 31 March 2011.
According to Yokohama, the share of radial tyres in the OTR market is increasing, not only large radial tyres, but also medium and small radial tyres are enjoying higher demand from dump trucks and loaders. In addition, large and medium cross-ply tyres are receiving a lot of inquiries for use with vehicles for underground mine development and port operations.
When the fourth-phase expansion is completed, the plant's production capacity is scheduled to reach 2.2 times that in FY2007.
