Freudenberg develops CIP/SIP seal material
ERJ staff report (DS)
Weinheim, Germany -- Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik has developed a seling compound which meets FDA regulations for food contact materials and can also withstand the CIP/SIP cleaning agents used to clean the plants in which they are used.
Freudenberg has developed Fluoroprene XP-40. This sealing material has been tested in accordance with the 3 A® Sanitary Standard Test 18-03 class 1 and meets the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 177.2600.
Freudenberg did not say what the base polymer is, but said Fluoroprene XP-40 is resistant to all media used in the food industry and is at the same time much less expensive than perfluoroelastomers.
The company is presenting the material in a dark blue colour, t omake it stand out from other elastomeric seals, and also said it can be used for all sealing applications in the food industry. THis, said the company, means that companies no longer have to stock up on seals and precision mouldings of the same size in different materials.
