US RMA says few motorists are 'tyre smart'
ERJ staff report (DS)
Washington DC -- Under-inflated tyres increase driving risks, waste fuel and cause tyres to wear out faster but few US motorists pay adequate attention to their tyres, claims the US-based Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA). A national survey by the tyre industry showed 85 percent of American drivers do not properly check tyre inflation pressure.
The RMA, which commissioned the survey, is sponsoring the seventh annual National Tire Safety Week April 20-26 to help raise awareness about the importance of tyre care. With gas prices at record levels again this year, motorists can save time and money by taking five minutes every month to check tyre pressures.
