Nankang shuts Taipei car tyre plant
Taipei, Taiwan -- Nankang Rubber Tire Corp. Ltd. has ceased production at its Nankang/Taipei City, Taiwan, passenger tyre plant and reached a land development deal for the urban site.
Nankang ceased production at the 68-year-old plant in February and is still attempting to sell the factory's machinery, according to a company spokesman. The plant had capacity for both cross-ply and radial passenger and light truck tyres; it employed 395 at last report.
With the closing, Nankang has two remaining passenger and light truck tyre plants, a 45-year-old factory in Hsing Fung, Taiwan, and a 5-year-old plant in Jiangsu, China.
