Kumho to enter civil aircraft tyre business
Tire Business staff report
Rancho Cucamonga, California -- Kumho Tire Co. Inc. signed a Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement with South Korea and the US to commercialise its tyres for use in the civil aviation industry.
The agreement allows the US to observe and examine the quality and performance of the civil aviation industry in countries including Korea. The agreement is required to permit Kumho to export related products for use in other countries.
Kumho said it expects to control 5 percent or more of the civil aviation tyre market by 2015, with Asiana Airlines, a subsidiary of Kumho Asiana Group, as the company's first customer.
