Goodyear to invest $1000 million in China - Reuters
ERJ staff report (DS)
Dalian, China -- Goodyear is reportedly planning to invest over $1000 million in a tyre factory in China. Reuters is reporting that the mayor of Dalian said his city is in final talks with Goodyear to site the plant near the city. The report did not specify truck or car tyres.
"Under the plan," said Reuters, "Goodyear would set up a plant in the Beishan area and hire more than 2000 employees for a factory that would sell both domestically and for export."
Reuters quoted city mayor Xia Deren saying that the contract is not yet signed, but both sides have almost completed preparatory work on the deal.
Goodyear said it is exploring many options in China and elsewhere, but declined to comment on specific press reports.
