Firms to launch RFID truck tyre tag system in US
Calgary, Alberta, Canada -- Advanced ID Corp. and Patch Rubber Co. will launch a “Guaranteed Life of Tire†radio frequency identification (RFID) tag system during the Technology & Maintenance Council´s 2008 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition, Feb. 4-7 in Orlando, Florida.
The product incorporates Advanced ID's UHF RFID Tire Tag that can be applied to the inner wall of a truck tyre using Patch Rubber's rubber patch.
Dan Finch, president and CEO of Calgary-based Advanced ID, said his firm and Myers Industries Inc.'s Patch Rubber Co. subsidiary “are pleased to introduce the world's first retro-fit UHF tag solution that will remain on the tyre throughout the tyre's casing life. With the recent introduction of Advanced ID's low cost PR500 UHF tag readers, we are confident that this necessary and affordable solution will take tyre tracking and management to a new level.â€
Advanced ID is a distributor of RFID tags, readers and software for the tyre industry and Patch Rubber provides tyre repair and retread materials. The product will be displayed at the Myers booth during the exhibition.
The TMC is part of the American Trucking Associations.
