Harbel, Liberia - Firestone Natural Rubber Co. L.L.C. is
extending its cargo donation program for Liberia through 2008, the
Indianapolis-based company has announced.
Begun in 2006, Firestone Natural Rubber's cargo donation program
consists of making room on the company's cargo ships for donated relief
goods such as food, medicine, vitamins, electric generators and
building materials for the people of Liberia.
Nearly 30 aid organizations ship relief goods to Liberia through the
program, according to Firestone Natural Rubber. The company, a
subsidiary of Bridgestone/Firestone Diversified Products, operates the
world's largest natural rubber plantation at Harbel, encompassing
118,000 acres and some 6,000 employees.
