Ohio grants $20m loan to cover Goodyear parking lot for new world HQ

Columbus, Ohio -- Lee Fisher, the Lieutenant Governor of Ohio announced a $20 million interest-free loan to fund a parking lot at a new global headquarters for Goodyear Tire &Rubber in Akron.
The loan is made to Summit County Port Authority and is intended to, "finance parking facilities that will support a new world and North American headquarters operation [for Goodyear]."
in the loan document, Ohio says, "Goodyear proposes to partner with Industrial Realty Group, the Summit County Port Authority, Summit County and the City of Akron to construct a new headquarters that will house 2,900 employees. In support of the Goodyear headquarters, Industrial Realty Group will convert four floors of the existing Goodyear Data Center into a parking deck that will accommodate 1,600 parking spaces and construct a new parking deck with approximately 1,500 more spaces. The Summit County Port Authority will own the parking facilities. This $44 million investment in parking facilities is expected to support the retention of 2,900 positions within the first three years of their initial operation.
