Jippy sells condoms at Euro0.15; starts European campaign for safe sex
ERJ staff report (SS)
Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands -- The Dutch Jippy Foundation has started a European campaign for safe sex and will make Jippy condoms available for around 20 Eurocents each in Europe. Bulk orders bring the price down even further.
According to the foundation, condom prices in Europe are kept at high levels even though they cost manufacturers very little to produce. By offering its own cheap condoms, Jippy said in a 26 Nov statement, it believes that it is making it financially possible for youngsters to have safe sex.
The company has designed a website, available in English, German, French, Spanish and Turkish language, so people can order the condoms online.
According to Jippy, the campaign is aimed at young people between the ages of 12 and 23 and is supported by politicians and doctors. Jippy said that research shows that the age of when youngsters are beginning to have sex is dropping. Sexual diseases such as chlamydia and aids are therefore on the up, with 25 000 people being infected every year, 10 percent of which suffer with HIV.Â
