Oilfield polymers conference set for October 2008 in London
London -Â The sixth 2-day international conference on Oilfield Engineering with Polymers, will be held in London, England, on 7-8th October 2008. Â The venue for the conference is the Cavendish Conference Centre, situated in the heart of London with state of the art facilities. Â it is being organised by Applied Market Information Ltd and the Materials Engineering Research Laboratory Ltd.
The organisers said in a press releases, "Elastomers, thermoplastics, thermosets and composite materials play a vital role in many critical applications in the oilfield such as coatings, insulation, pipes (bonded and flexible), hoses, seals, flexible joints and bearings, inflatable tools, umbilicals, risers, blow out preventers etc. The industry challenge is to operate safely and reliably under a wide range of operational and environmental conditions. Key to this is research and development, design, qualification and operational experience."
The organisers issued a call for papers, saying, "Papers are invited on a variety of topics including operational experience, new materials, applications and operating conditions, insulation systems, sealing materials and seal performance, qualification test methods (e.g. NORSOK M-710), material durability and lifetime assessment, materials for high and low temperature extremes, sour fluid handling, repair and maintenance, standards and regulatory requirements, market trends in Oilfield Engineering.
