Metflex buys two horizontal Maplan IM machines
Blackburn, UK -Â Metflex has invested in a pair of fully automated horizontal rubber injection-moulding machines. The machines, used to manufacture rubber gaskets, were supplied by Maplan and have replaced 10 moulding presses.
The improvement in component quality and overheads has enabled Metflex to pass on a reduction in the selling price to its customers. In a turnkey operation, Maplan supplied automatic unloading and tooling for both machines, which was designed jointly by technical personnel from Metflex and Maplan. The purchase has increased the size of the injection moulding department and has provided capacity for new business.
"They will enable us to introduce the latest tooling and automation techniques whilst developing modern processing technology," said Metflex Operations Director, John Holland. "Through automation we can remain a very competitive company, regardless of the strength of the pound, in a very tough market."
