Berwin buys Watts' compounding operations
Manchester, UK -Â Berwin Group Ltd has bought Watts Industrial Polymers Ltd, the compounding operations of Watts Group. Manufacturing of the Watts compound range will remain at its Lydney site and Berwin is confident the acquisition will enable the Lydney site to continue its growth and further expand its global presence.
Berwin is the UK's largest custom compounder, the acquisition increases the group's turnover to €52m, Watts Industrial Polymers adding €18m. Berwin now operates 12 manufacturing lines from two sites. Its product range includes all major elastomer types from FKM to NR and Thermoplastic PVC, PVC/NBR compounds in lot sizes from one batch to full loads, in both black and colours.
Additionally, Berwin has upgraded one of the mixing lines at its Manchester site installing a second Krupp 135 litre intermeshing mixer and a gear pump straining facility.
Watts said the deal will allow it to concentrate on developing its two main business areas: industrial tyres and a regional truck and van dealership operating in Gloucester, Hereford, Worcester and Yate.
