NR price breaks $2/kg once more
Singapore - Natural rubber prices are starting to rise once more, having risen by around 30 percent since hitting a low at the end of November.
In Singapore RSS1 is currently trading just above 300 singapore cents per kilo ($2), with futures contracts running about 10 percent higher, at 330 Sing cents/kg. RSS3 is slightly lower, but still hovering just below $2/kg, with futures contracts up to about $2.15.
Tokyo's TOCOM 6-month price is around ¥250/kg ($2.09), while in India the price is threatening to breach Rs 100/kg ($2.25)once more.
Prices now are slightly above the levels exactly one year ago, but still far short of the $2.80 or so peak reached in June 2006.
