Dunlop India's Sahagange unit reopens after five years
Kolkata, India - After a gap of nearly five years, Dunlop India's plant in Sahagange reopened on Tuesday bringing to life one of the oldest tyre plants in Asia. Dunlop officials said they were targeting a production of 130 tonnes a day from March 2007. It had a capacity of just 20 tonnes a day with a workforce of 11 when the plant was closed.
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Union Heavy Industry Minister Santosh Mohan Dev and Dunlop Chairman Pawan Ruia were present at the reopening ceremony of the unit in Hooghly district, closed since February 2001.
