ExxonMobil Chemical releases manual for its Santoprene TPVs
Akron, Ohio - ExxonMobil Chemical has produced a technical manual for uses of its Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs) - recyclable elastomers used in appliances, automotive products, consumer goods and plumbing.
The manual includes theory and guidelines on material performance and processing and covers injection moulding, grips, shut-off design, extrusion, blow moulding, seals, tubes, ducts, bellows and convolutes.
''Designers tend to be experienced in working either with plastics or rubber,'' ExxonMobil Chemical senior design engineer Ward Narhi said.
''So the guide has been developed for those unfamiliar with designing with TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers).
"We expect to update the document and new sections may be added.''
