Lanxess raises price of Vulkanox BKF
Leverkusen, Germany - Lanxess AG is raising prices on its toluene-based chemicals, including antioxidants sold under the tradenames of Vulkanox BHT and Vulkanox BKF. Lanxess said the price increases would be between 5 and 15 percent, depending on the amount of toluene used in the production process.
BKF {2,2-methylene-bis-(4-methyl-6-tert.-butyl-phenol)} is an antioxidant used primarily in the rubber and latex industry, while BHT (butylhydroxytoluene) is used as a stabiliser in some rubber compounds.
The company blamed a "drastic increase in the cost of toluene and increased energy costs".
