Conti to add mixing capacity in Romania
Timisoara, Romania-Continental AG is adding rubber mixing capacity to its passenger tyre plant in Timisoara, which was set up four years ago as a modular satellite†facility.
Word of the upgrade comes from Italian internal mixer maker Techint-Pomini, which is supplying an intermeshing mixer to Conti for the factory.
Conti set up the plant in 1999-2000 at a cost of $60 million. It is rated at 22 000 units daily and uses Conti's Modular Manufacturing Process, which involves completing production of tyres initiated elsewhere.
The Romanian company, Continental Automotive Products SRL, has ordered one VIC275 mixer-Variable Intermeshing Clearance-and TDE 11-Twin dump extruder-but Techint-Pomini said in a release the project envisages a hall with up to four mixing lines.
