Chemtura suspending EPDM production for 6 weeks
Middlebury, Connecticut--Chemtura Corp. (formerly Crompton Corp.) is closing most of its EPDM production for six weeks to perform delayed annual maintenance.
A spokesman said the firm will shut down two of three Royalene EPDM lines at its Geismar, Louisiana, plant after holding off on maintenance during a period of high customer demand for the synthetic rubber. The company decided the summer months are a good time to do the needed work.
The Geismar plant has the capacity to produce 91,000 tonnes of EPDM annually, according to data published by the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers.
