Kraton to lift capacity for its SBS thermoplastic elastomer at Belpre in US
By Liz White, ERJ staff
Houston, Texas-Kraton Polymers llc announced 19 Sept that it is increasing capacity for its Kraton D polymers at Belpre, Ohio, by 10 ktpa.
The planned increase in production of Kraton's styrene-butadiene-styrene thermoplastic elastomers is in "response to rising demand from customers in the paving and roofing sector of the North American market," said a company statement on the debottlenecking.
"This low cost debottleneck in SBS capacity, resulting from success in utilising Lean / Six Sigma techniques, continues to demonstrate Kraton's commitment to its core markets and customers', said Stephen Evans, vice president and general manager for Paving, Roofing and Footwear.
The additional capacity is expected to be online by April 2006, Kraton's statement concluded.
