Continental pledges $100 000 to hurricane relief
Charlotte, North Carolina -- Continental AG and its subsidiaries have pledged to donate $50 000 to Transitional Assistance to Survivors of Katrina plus $50 000 to assist Katrina evacuees in the western North Carolina region.
Subsidiary Continental Tire North America Inc. is involved in the TASK pledge, and Continental Automotive Systems is participating in the donation to North Carolina evacuees. TASK was set up to provide survivors with basic essentials, including bedding, utilities and rent. Conti also is working with Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory to assist evacuees who have come to the city.
"The displacement of so many people is truly a human tragedy, and we wanted to identify some tangible things we could do to help here in Charlotte," said Continental Tire ceo Alan Hippe.
