Tokyo--Showa Denko KK, a Japan-based manufacturer of rubber polymers reported a 23 percent increase in operating income for the three months to March 2005.
In a statement, the company said, "Sales of specialty chemicals increased slightly as an increase in the shipment volumes of Shoprene polychloroprene synthetic rubber more than offset the effect of sluggish demand for amino acids."
