Hamburg, Germany-Masterflex AG subsidiary Matzen & Timm GmbH is supplying some vital parts on the new giant European-made airliner, the Airbus A380.
Matzen & Timm supplied hoses, bellows and shaped parts for the latest Airbus-which was rolled out for its first test flight 27 April. The parts meeting the latest and most demanding highest safety requirements, the firm said.
One of the important components the Hamburg-based firm made for the new plane was lightweight special air-distribution hoses made of Hypalon (chlorosulphonated polyethylene) for the A380's air-conditioning system.
These ducts were produced to aviation standard FAR 25 856 (A) on fire retardant behaviour. The standard is designed to prevent a local fire spreading over the entire cabin area of the airplane, the firm said.
The contract for the parts with Airbus Germany GmbH runs for 6 years to the end of 2010. Gaining this order strengthens the Matzen and Timm's position as an “important supplier of hoses, Bellows and Sleeves for 'Single Aisle' and 'Long rank' types of aircraft,†the firm said.
